Job Description

- Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording financial activity correctly and verifying that entries align with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support, ensuring transactions are classified accurately across reporting periods.
- Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet and bank accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Oversee accounting work related to grants and endowments, including tracking activity and confirming proper treatment of restricted funds.
- Analyze account fluctuations and provide clear explanations for variances identified during the close and reconciliation process.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather supporting documentation, clarify transactions, and improve the accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with accounting process updates or system-related changes as needed, while maintaining continuity and control over financial records.
