Job Description

A.D. Makepeace Company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position plays an important role in supporting the Company's accounting operations by preparing accurate financial information, maintaining financial records, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy. This role works closely with accounting staff, managers across the organization, and external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. What You'll Do Prepare and distribute the daily cash balance summary. Reconcile daily and monthly cash activity to bank balances. Prepare general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, prepaid expense analyses, and other assigned account reconciliations. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances. Prepare and post month-end and year-end journal entries, including adjusting entries. Process accounts receivable, including customer billing, collections, and reporting. Assist with the annual financial audit by preparing reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting documentation. Maintain organized accounting records, electronic files, and documentation, including accounting policies and procedures. Research and respond to accounting and financial inquiries. Partner with managers across business units to understand operations and resolve accounting-related issues. Utilize online banking platforms to support the Company's cash management activities. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. One to three years of corporate accounting experience. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong accounting and financial reporting skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
