POSITION
Senior Accounting Analyst
REPORTING TO
Corporate Controller
LOCATION
Westborough, MA.
GENERAL FUNCTION
The Senior Accounting Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting for the organization. This position is responsible for advancing the quality of the monthly closing, strengthening analytical processes, enhancing internal controls, and providing actionable financial insights. Serving as a key liaison across Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams, the Senior Accounting Analyst helps drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and informed decision-making.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Close & Reporting Lead components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a high degree of accuracy and completeness. Prepare, analyze, and review journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. Compile and interpret financial results, identifying trends, risks, and anomalies, and delivering clear commentary to management. Support preparation of internal and external financial statements and required reporting packages. Maintain and enhance internal controls to support audit compliance and financial integrity. Financial Planning & Analysis Support Perform complex financial analyses, including margin, trend, variance, and scenario analyses. Provide business partners with insights that connect financial outcomes to operational drivers. Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with AP, AR, FP&A, Operations, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to resolve accounting questions and ensure proper transaction treatment. Support accounting activities for functional areas such as inventory, revenue recognition, accruals, cost accounting, and fixed assets (based on organizational needs). Assist with policy updates, documentation, and process standardization across accounting workflows. Systems, Tools & Process Improvements Support ERP upgrades, system integrations, and automation initiatives that improve accuracy, efficiency, and data quality. Recommend and implement process improvements across the close cycle and reporting routines. Develop standardized reporting templates and analytical tools to support scalable growth. Manage ad hoc requests, projects, and analysis as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
As a defense contractor we are subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder) to be considered for this position. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of
U.S. GAAP.
Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets. Experience working with ERP systems. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally. High attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy. Critical thinking and problem-solving capability. Continuous improvement mindset with initiative to enhance existing processes. Ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations. Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and accuracy.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience supporting external financial audits. Background in manufacturing, technology, or public company environments. Experience with process automation tools, data visualization software, or advanced financial modeling. CPA or CPA Certification in progress.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role is primarily a desk-based position involving extended periods of sitting while working on a computer. Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods with or without reasonable accommodation. Occasional standing, walking, or reaching may be required to access files, attend meetings, or collaborate with team members.
