Jobs › Westminster, MA › Cost Accountant Robert Half Cost Accountant Westminster, MA Apply Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Westminster, Massachusetts. This position supports accurate financial reporting by monitoring product and project costs, maintaining reliable inventory records, and contributing to monthly accounting activities. The ideal candidate brings manufacturing experience, sound judgment, and the ability to translate operational data into meaningful financial insight.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain cost accounting records by analyzing raw material, labor, and overhead expenses tied to production and project activity.
- Oversee inventory accuracy through ledger maintenance, cycle count coordination, and review of stock valuation results.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to assist with the month-end close process.
- Apply revenue recognition principles, including percentage-of-completion methods where appropriate, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor work-in-progress balances and evaluate cost movements to identify variances and support management review.
- Partner with operations and finance stakeholders to improve visibility into manufacturing costs and inventory performance. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on costing responsibilities.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Working knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and cost analysis principles.
- Experience with inventory accounting, including work-in-progress and stock valuation review.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting methods.
- Ability to support month-end close activities through reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
