Job Description

Job Title Bookkeeper Staff Accountant CPA / Accounting Professional Accounting Manager We are a growing accounting and bookkeeping practice serving small to mid-sized business clients. We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team and support ongoing client work as we expand.
Required:
2+ years bookkeeping or accounting experience Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) Strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple clients/tasks
Preferred:
CPA, EA, or accounting designation Experience in a public accounting or client-service environment Payroll experience Tax preparation experience (optional depending on role) Duties Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards. Conduct thorough audits to verify accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements. Manage tax filings, including tax accounting, estate planning strategies, and ensuring adherence to securities law where applicable. Perform account reconciliations such as balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation to maintain data integrity. Support mergers & acquisitions activities through due diligence, financial analysis, and integration of financial systems. Assist with budgeting processes, financial report writing, and analysis to inform strategic decision-making. Utilize various accounting software tools such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other financial software to streamline bookkeeping and financial management tasks. Maintain compliance with regulatory reporting standards while managing accounts payable and receivable processes. Provide expertise in specialized areas such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), non-profit accounting, securities law compliance, and asset management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial analysis projects related to sales, investment opportunities, private equity transactions, and financial services. Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), tax experience, and technical accounting standards. Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Quicken, and other relevant tools. Strong understanding of auditing procedures, SOX compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting standards. Expertise in estate planning, wills & trusts law, securities law, mergers & acquisitions, and asset management strategies. Demonstrated ability in financial statement preparation and interpretation along with analysis skills for detailed account analysis. Skilled in double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Excellent financial analysis capabilities combined with budgeting expertise for effective financial planning. Experience working within public accounting firms or corporate accounting departments is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting practices as well as familiarity with payroll processing and accounts payable functions. Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly through written reports or presentations; experience in financial report writing is a plus.
