Senior Accountant Position Summary FireCatt is a growing fire hose testing and service company seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Troy, Michigan. The Senior Accountant will oversee key day-to-day accounting functions and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This position will support financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance, and other financial needs of the organization. Senior Accountant Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required Minimum of three years of related accounting experience required. Strong knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Hands-on experience with accounting software, including QuickBooks. Experience with general ledger functions and month-end and year-end closing processes. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Highly detail-oriented, accurate, and self-directed. Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and business information. Senior Accountant Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately classified. Manage and support month-end and year-end closing processes. Generate customer invoices, establish new customer accounts, maintain account information, and ensure accurate billing records. Reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions, post payments, prepare deposits, and address banking-related inquiries. Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll-related accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. Manage the accounts receivable and collections process, including monitoring outstanding balances and following up on past-due accounts. Review and process accounts payable invoices and ensure expenses are accurately coded and charged to the appropriate accounts. Maintain accurate supporting documentation for accounting transactions and financial records. Assist outside accountants, auditors, and other financial partners by gathering requested account information and supporting documentation for audits and reviews. Assist with the preparation and filing of applicable federal, state, and local tax forms and other required financial filings. Monitor financial activity and identify discrepancies, accounting issues, or areas requiring additional review. Maintain knowledge of current accounting principles, practices, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Manage and maintain company Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E) insurance records and related documentation. Coordinate and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs) as required. Support the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal financial controls. Provide financial information, reports, and other accounting support to leadership as requested.
