This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting by overseeing job costs, revenue recognition, cost of goods sold (COGS), reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, strong analytical skills, experience working with ERP systems (preferably SAP), and a passion for improving processes and maintaining financial accuracy in a project-based business. This is a contract to hire role.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Recognition & Cost Accounting Process revenue recognition based on shipment dates, show dates, and project milestones. Review and validate COGS, including materials, labor, freight, and purchased services. Maintain deferred revenue schedules and ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC 606. Investigate and resolve revenue and cost discrepancies. Month-End Close & Reporting Review revenue and COGS for completeness, accuracy, and proper period recognition. Prepare accruals, deferrals, and supporting journal entries. Reconcile revenue and COGS accounts to the general ledger. Maintain audit-ready documentation and support financial reporting. Job Costing & Analysis Ensure costs are accurately assigned to projects and cost categories. Upload and validate daily freight costs in SAP. Analyze job cost variances and support project profitability reporting. Partner with operations, logistics, and project managers to resolve costing issues. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve job costing, revenue recognition, and internal controls. Support development of accounting policies, procedures, and best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance financial processes and reporting.

Qualifications:

Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience. Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles. Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Experience in manufacturing, project accounting, or job costing. Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
