Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1\. Foundational Accounting Knowledge- Understand and apply basic accounting principles (U.S. GAAP).
- Execute and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses as part of month-end close procedures.
- Independently manage assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.
- Familiarity with financial statements and ability to assist with financial reporting.
- Ability to assist with the administration of the Company's Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance, including timely completion and documentation of assigned controls as well as performing tests of controls. 2\. Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Review and enter vendor invoices for appropriate coding and supporting documentation, and routing for approval.
- Maintain the Accounts Payable inbox and respond timely to all inquiries.
- Create and maintain accurate vendor master files.
- Review employee expense reports and assist with related questions to ensure expenses are in alignment with corporate travel policy.
- Reconcile monthly credit card statements for company issued credit cards.
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs. 3\. Financial Systems & Data Expertise
- Comfortable using accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, Tipalti).
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., formulas, sorting, pivot tables).
- Willingness to learn and identify continuous improvement opportunities within processes and systems. 4\. Communication & Team Collaboration
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
- Professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience Guidelines- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field
- 1+ years of relevant work experience
- Exposure to:
- Accounting software (e.g. NetSuite or similar)
- Microsoft Excel (basic to intermediate level)
- Financial reporting or reconciliation tasks
- Familiarity with GAAP and basic financial reporting principles.
- Experience working in a team environment or cross-functional projects (e.g., student organizations, part-time jobs, volunteer work).
- Occasional travel may be required.
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- Progress toward CPA or interest in pursuing certification.
- Open to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Ability to operate effectively and be adaptable in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
