An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
Accountant (5 + years experience required) We're looking for an experienced Accountant to help drive the financial success of our growing construction company. This role is responsible for financial reporting, payroll, job costing, and project accounting, while partnering with leadership to support business growth and operational excellence. Accounting and Financial Management Maintain general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and fixed asset records. Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting, including financial statements. Manage treasury activities associated with corporate accounts including reconciliation of bank accounts, monitoring cash balances daily to ensure adequate funding, and monitoring for potential fraud, cash requirements, and cash flow. Oversee the vendor payments and processes 1099 reporting. Prepares customer billings (AIA, Textura, Procore, etc.), lien waivers, and retainage tracking. Job Costing & Project Accounting Maintain job cost records, change orders, work-in-progress schedules, and project accounting information within Computer Ease, collaborating closely with Project Managers to ensure accuracy and timely project reporting. Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and contract requirements. Payroll & Benefits Oversee payroll processing, payroll taxes, union reporting, deductions, and quarterly and year-end processing, while providing backup support to ensure payroll functions are completed accurately and on time. Manage employee benefits and related recordkeeping. Tax, Compliance & Insurance Prepare sales/use tax, and annual compliance filings. Coordinate insurance audits, renewals, and reporting requirements. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Office Administration and Leadership Supervise, mentor and develop office administration staff by providing guidance, coaching and performance feedback. Manage document retention, credit card and fuel card programs, and company records. Recommend and implement process improvements, standardized procedures, and internal controls to maximize efficiency, support business growth, and ensure operational effectiveness. Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related accounting experience. 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for construction accounting experience. Knowledge of job costing, taxes, financial reporting, payroll, and employee benefits administration. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and meet deadlines. Proficient in Excel with knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Teams. Experience with Computer Ease accounting software preferred. High degree of integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential information. Effective communication and leadership skills to manage a team and collaborate with various cross functional teams. Ability to develop positive working relationships and communicate effectively with vendors, employees and customers. Compensation Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to applicable work experience, and qualifications. $65-$80k/yr.
