Processes payroll; verifies, enters, and calculates timesheets, benefits, deductions, accruals and FMLA tracking following County Union Contracts and Personnel Rules & Policies.
Prepares and audits tax deposits for federal and state withholdings.
Maintains Payroll System to ensure information such as pay and taxes is correct.
Audits and prepares insurance billings; notifies vendors of billing adjustments.
Completes reports and provides assistance with inquiries regarding detailed payroll information.
Maintains information and participates in labor relation negotiations, as requested by Human Resources.
Completes job verification requests.
Attends work regularly and in a timely manner.
Performs others duties as assigned or apparent.
Must have experience using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of contract and employment law.
Knowledge of deposit requirements for payment of payroll taxes.
Knowledge of the filing requirements for various government payroll reports.
Knowledge of fund accounting and public finance.
Knowledge of federal and state laws and procedures for grant requests.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to prepare statistical reports.

Contract for 2-3 months About the opportunityDoherty Career Solutions is partnering with a local downtown St. Cloud, MN company as they seek a contract Payroll Technician. Position Objective To provide assistance with producing accurate, biweekly payrolls and generate reports for County departments and federal and state agencies. This position is responsible for ensuring payrolls are accurate and timely and for providing reports of employee expenses used for the County budget. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
ABILITIESMinimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent; two years of post-secondary formal preparation/training/education in accounting or payroll, and three years of accounting or payroll, experience OR high school graduate or equivalents and seven years of accounting or payroll experience.Must have experience using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
Preferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications:
experience with payroll processing and working with the principles and practices of governmental accounting; banking experience, working with tax laws regarding payroll and benefits, and experience using ePersonality and Oracle Discoverer Software.Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of contract and employment law.
