This firm provides tax, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting services to a diverse client base, including individuals, businesses, and fiduciaries. In this role, you will support tax and accounting engagements while working closely with senior staff, managers, and partners. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with clients, managing multiple projects, and developing expertise across tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting. Job Description As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare tax returns, assist with financial statement engagements, and provide ongoing accounting and bookkeeping services for clients. Most assignments are completed under the guidance and supervision of senior-level accounting professionals while providing opportunities for continuous learning and advancement. Responsibilities Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns of varying complexity. Prepare sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and year-end tax documents for clients. Perform bookkeeping, payroll processing, and other intermediate-level accounting tasks. Assist with financial statement reviews and compilations. Collaborate with managers and partners to identify and meet client tax and accounting needs. Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and reporting requirements. Utilize accounting, tax, and workflow management software to complete client engagements efficiently. Communicate professionally with clients and internal team members regarding project status and information requests. Manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Authorization to work in the United States. Basic to intermediate knowledge of tax preparation, accounting principles, and bookkeeping practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software applications. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes, technologies, and responsibilities. Preferred 1 to 5 years of experience in tax preparation and accounting (internship experience may be considered). Experience preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns. Experience with QuickBooks, Adobe Acrobat, tax preparation software, and digital workflow management systems. CPA certification, eligibility to sit for the CPA exam, or active pursuit of CPA licensure. Experience with payroll processing, sales tax reporting, and financial statement engagements.
