Construction Accountant / Senior Accountant Project Restorations - Minneapolis, MN Full-Time | In-Office About the Position Project Restorations is an established Minneapolis-based commercial contractor specializing in structural restoration, concrete, carpentry, and complex building repairs. We are looking for an experienced Construction Accountant / Senior Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day construction accounting. This is a hands-on accounting role. We are looking for someone who understands construction accounting, keeps things current and accurate, follows issues through to resolution, and is comfortable working directly with project managers, field staff, vendors, subcontractors, and ownership. Responsibilities Construction job costing and project accounting Accounts payable and accounts receivable Customer billing and project invoicing Subcontractor invoices, pay applications, and compliance WIP reporting and project cost reconciliations Tracking retainage, commitments, change orders, and project costs Union payroll and payroll-related accounting Certified payroll and prevailing-wage reporting as applicable Bank and credit-card reconciliations General ledger entries and account reconciliations Month-end close and preparation of financial reports Work directly with project managers to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate job costs Assist with insurance, tax, audit, and year-end accounting requests Provide accounting support for affiliated real estate and development entities What We're Looking For Construction accounting experience is important for this position. Experience with a general contractor, specialty contractor, subcontractor, developer, or similar construction business is strongly preferred. We're looking for someone who is: Experienced with job-cost accounting Comfortable with WIP and construction billing Familiar with union payroll and certified payroll Strong with reconciliations and general ledger accounting Proficient in Excel and accounting software Organized and able to manage multiple companies and projects Comfortable investigating discrepancies and resolving them Dependable, responsive, and able to work independently Willing to take ownership rather than waiting for someone else to identify what needs attention A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is helpful, but strong construction accounting experience is more important to us than a particular degree or title.
