Job Description:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant / Cost Accountant to support financial reporting, inventory accounting, cost analysis, and general accounting functions. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing product and manufacturing costs, assisting with month-end close, and providing financial insights that support operational and business decisions. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and post monthly journal entries Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Maintain and reconcile inventory and cost accounting records Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs Review inventory transactions and investigate variances Assist with standard cost development and updates Monitor manufacturing and production costs Prepare inventory reserves and obsolescence analyses Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs Analyze gross margin and cost trends Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules Support internal and external audit requests Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and
GAAP Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred 3-5 years of accounting experience Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or cost accounting environments preferred Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, Epicor, or JD Edwards Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong verbal and written communication skills
