Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
Manage fixed asset accounting, including maintaining the fixed asset register, recording depreciation, and preparing related journal entries. Prepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations to support the monthly close process. Review purchasing transactions for proper coding and ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements. Prepare and support sales and use tax filings and related compliance activities. Analyze manufacturing and operational costs, investigate variances, and assist with inventory-related accounting activities. Support ERP system initiatives, process improvements, and reporting enhancements while partnering with accounting and operations teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Previous cost accounting experience required, preferably within a manufacturing or distribution environment. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, fixed assets, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience with sales and use tax compliance. ERP system experience required; experience with system implementations or conversions is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
