Job Description

Position Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate preparation of financial statements on a modified tax basis for multiple small, privately held businesses. This role maintains fixed asset and depreciation records, oversees accounts payable and payroll, and provides financial reporting and analysis to owners and managers. The Senior Accountant also supports audit, tax, and regulatory requirements across the company's affiliated entities, including radio broadcasting operations. Key Responsibilities Prepare complete financial statements on a modified tax basis for multiple small private businesses. Maintain fixed asset lists and depreciation schedules. Apply working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including Private Company Council (PCC) accounting alternatives for private companies, in day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. Report financial results to owners and to managers on a monthly basis; provide year-end reporting to external tax accountants. Prepare and deliver daily sales projection and collection reports to owners to support cash management. Communicate with managers on financial reviews and respond to related questions. Produce and respond to revenue reporting requests from music royalty companies for the radio broadcasting businesses. Compile and provide financial information required for insurance audits, government audits, and cafeteria plan audits. Oversee accounts payable and payroll functions. Manage and maintain the Sage 50 accounting system. Prepare projections, cost analysis, and other financial analysis as needed. Determine and explain budget and financial variances. Analyze radio industry analytics and benchmark company performance against industry ratios to support financial planning. Prepare and file business personal property rendition forms with local tax authorities. Use the company's Claude AI subscription as a tool to support accounting, reporting, and analysis work. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial accounting. CPA license preferred. Experience with Sage 50 accounting software preferred. Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including Private Company Council (PCC) accounting alternatives for private companies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and explain financial variances and benchmark comparisons. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to owners and managers. High degree of accuracy, organization, and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
