POSITION PURPOSE
Performs complex and specialized tasks in the maintenance of financial and budgetary records. Assists in the preparation of various financial reports and performs clerical activities related to the accounting cycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
(KSAs) Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps; Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to understand, interpret and apply specific rules and regulations governing the processing of fiscal documents, maintenance of financial records and preparation of fiscal records; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, employees of funding agencies, and community members.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in accounting or related field; AND Four years of experience in accounting or related experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles; Intermediate skills with Microsoft Access and Excel; Knowledge of Oracle financial applications; Knowledge of individual school accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares periodic financial and budgetary reports and analyses for management use and for distribution to other departments and external funding agencies. Maintains general ledger accounts for certain funds. Prepares and keys input document for receivables, deposits, transfers, and interest income; prepares accrual of expenditures and revenues for financial statement purposes; prepares and balances other journal entries for required adjustments to the general ledger; performs monthly analysis of balance sheet accounts; monitors cash balances for appropriate levels. Prepares monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and prepares related adjusting journal entries to balance these accounts. Prepares and balances bank deposits as funds are collected and assign proper account distribution for funds received. Reconciles general ledger to various external and internal areas. Performs financial system testing. Assists in the preparation of schedules and related information required for the annual audit of the comprehensive annual financial report. Supports budget managers, bookkeepers, and lead secretaries with various financial matters. Facilitates onboarding of new bookkeepers and lead secretaries. Conducts monthly and annual professional development presentations for school staff. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office and school environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
