Descriptive Summary We are seeking an experienced Accountant to help support the firm's operations. This position will be responsible for daily and monthly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts, all payroll activity, AP/AR, invoicing, reviewing real estate closing ledgers for accuracy and 1099-S reporting, taking on multiple projects and keeping up with daily transactions all while working independently.
Required :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 2-5 years of accounting /finance experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. Reconciles multiple trust accounts daily, verifies deposits and ensures they are entered accurately into real estate closing ledgers; addresses inquiries from banks. Performs monthly trust account reconciliations and quarterly audits as required by NC State Bar. Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable; ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts and coded correctly. Sets up new vendor accounts when needed and maintain updated W-9 forms. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Performs daily payroll department operations, including collecting and verifying timekeeping information and processing payroll. Maintains general ledger and prepare financial statements (monthly income statements, profit and loss statements, balance sheets) as requested. Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies as requested. As appropriate, coordinates with software vendors to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. Collaborates with the human resources department to maintain employee data. Performs other related duties as assigned.
