Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Department of English and Comparative Literature is a vibrant and diverse department with a global reach. Our course offerings present a diversity of approaches to the study, production, and appreciation of literary and nonliterary texts. We pursue a four-fold mission to 1) explore the history and significance of American, British, and world literature; 2) promote interdisciplinary connections and incorporate the study of culture, theory, and history into our research and courses; 3) offer training in rigorous thinking, precise analysis, and critical reading; and 4) foster practical skills in rhetoric, composition, and expression in essays, creative pieces, even emerging forms of digital media. English and Comparative Literature is home to the undergraduate and graduate programs in English and the undergraduate and graduate programs in Comparative Literature, and the undergraduate program in Creative Writing as well as various certificate programs. Position Summary The Accounting Associate and Administrative Specialist role is to assist the Business Manager as necessary with administrative tasks and to help compile data for various reports. The reports call for historical, current and expenditure information presented in an orderly and easily readable manner. This position will also primarily help the Business Manager with reconciling accounts and training faculty on policies and procedures concerning CONCUR, purchasing, bringing speakers, and guests. This position will also assist the current Accountant with managing accounting and approvals of payments as needed as the processes change and our units continue to grow. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Management Preferences Experience in a higher-education environment preferred.
