Type:
full-time Carolina PRG is partnering with a growing, privately held organization in the Charlotte area to add a Senior Project Accountant to its accounting team. This is a newly created position and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the business and wants visibility into the financial performance of large, complex projects. This role will work closely with both accounting and operational teams and will have ownership of project accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and cost analysis. What You'll Be Doing
- Manage accounting and financial reporting for assigned projects
- Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, revenue, and profitability
- Prepare monthly project reporting and analyze budget to actual results
- Support forecasting, WIP, and percentage of completion accounting
- Prepare project related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Track purchase orders, contracts, change orders, invoices, and other project costs
- Support project billing, accounts receivable, and cash flow analysis
- Identify cost variances, margin changes, and potential financial risks
- Partner closely with project managers and other operational leaders
- Assist with month end close and project financial closeout What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in project accounting, job cost accounting, construction accounting, or another project based environment
- Understanding of WIP and percentage of completion accounting
- Experience working with project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and cost analysis
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- Experience working within an ERP or accounting system
- Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with both accounting and operations
