Job Summary
flyExclusive is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support the Company's growing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul ("MRO") operations. Reporting directly to the MRO Controller, this role will partner closely with maintenance leadership, supply chain, finance, and operations teams to provide accurate cost accounting, inventory analysis, labor tracking, and operational reporting related to aircraft maintenance activities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, operational finance experience, and the ability to work within a fast-paced aviation environment. This position will play a critical role in improving cost visibility, supporting profitability initiatives, and strengthening internal controls across the MRO organization.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and analyze MRO-related cost accounting records, including labor, materials, outside services, and overhead allocations
Track and analyze aircraft maintenance events, wifi and avionics installations, paint and interior refurbishments, and component repair costs
Assist with inventory accounting for aircraft parts, rotable inventory, consumables, and tooling
Perform inventory reconciliations, cycle count analysis, and reserve assessments
Support monthly close activities, including accruals, variance analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Develop operational and financial reporting for maintenance leadership, including KPIs and cost trends
Analyze labor utilization, technician productivity, and maintenance event profitability
Partner with supply chain and procurement teams to evaluate vendor pricing, repair costs, and sourcing opportunities
Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities related to maintenance operations
Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and internal controls
Assist with external audit requests and support compliance with GAAP and Company accounting policies
Support ERP and maintenance system integrations, reporting enhancements, and data integrity initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2-5+ years of accounting or cost accounting experience
Manufacturing, aviation, aerospace, maintenance, or industrial operations experience preferred
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting principles
Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets
Experience with ERP systems and operational reporting tools
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced operational environment
CPA, CMA, or public accounting experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Aviation maintenance or MRO industry experience
Experience with Corridor or other aviation maintenance/job management systems is a plus
Familiarity with Sage Intacct or other cloud-based ERP systems
Understanding of aircraft maintenance programs, engine programs, or aviation inventory management
Work Environment
Monday through Friday in our Kinston office (not a remote or hybrid position)
