Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team in Kinston, North Carolina, in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position supports core accounting activities by overseeing receivables, payroll coordination, and recurring payables while helping maintain accurate financial records. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on transactional accounting and can work carefully to meet deadlines, support compliance, and keep daily processes running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily accounting transactions related to accounts receivable, recurring accounts payable, and payroll support to promote timely and accurate processing.
  • Review and enter vendor invoices, confirm supporting documentation, and coordinate payments in alignment with company procedures.
  • Record accounting activity through journal entries and maintain accuracy within the general ledger.
  • Process organizational transactions across assigned entities and ensure financial details are properly captured in the accounting records.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of bi-annual sales tax returns by compiling data and verifying report accuracy.
  • Support year-end compliance tasks by organizing payment records and preparing 1099 documentation for applicable vendors.
  • Reconcile accounting records and investigate discrepancies to help maintain reliable financial reporting.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to address transactional questions and improve consistency across accounting workflows.
