Senior Accountant Banyan Search Winston-Salem, NC Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Financial close processing Balance sheet Research Closing the books Full Job Description Position Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures within a corporate accounting environment. Responsibilities Compile and analyze financial information to assist in preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual calculations and account reconciliations. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. Prepare financial management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Verify support schedules to general ledger control accounts; reconcile balance sheet accounts and review sales, cost of goods sold, and expense accounts for accuracy. Compile and post monthly journal entries. Assist outside insurance, government, and accounting auditors. Substantiate financial transactions and reconcile discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and supporting documents. Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations. Assist in ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience. 5-10 years of overall accounting experience preferred. Experience in balance sheet account reconciliations required. Experience with journal entries and month-end close required. Advanced MS Excel skills and overall proficiency in MS Office. Well organized, with strong analytical and reasoning abilities and close attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA strongly preferred. Experience working with intercompany transactions. Experience assisting with annual external audits. Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, preferably in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
