Full Job Description Description:
Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions in support of the organization's financial operations, including cash accounting, accounts payable, payroll, resident invoicing, and month-end and year-end close activities. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, performing complex reconciliations, and supporting timely and accurate financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant works independently on key accounting processes, provides analytical insight over significant account balances, and supports continuous improvement of accounting systems, controls, and workflows. Essential Functions Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations and analytics over significant account balances. Review and analyze general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP. Maintain, review, and reconcile fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules. Post bank transactions and complete monthly bank reconciliations. Assist with accounts payable functions, including remitting and recording vendor payments. Prepare and remit resident invoices and ensure accuracy of billing records. Perform payroll processing, including recording payroll-related journal entries. Review and approve team member expense reports in accordance with company policy. Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and required documentation. Maintain and validate data integrity across key financial systems. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting as requested. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to information requests. Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned by the Director of Finance. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly. Physical Demands Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment (e.g. keyboard, mouse, phone). Frequently required to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally. Frequently required to concentrate on tasks involving moderate to fine detail with some to constant interruption. Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or reach during filing or office activities. Occasionally required to lift or carry items up to 15 lbs. (e.g. office supplies, small packages). Visual acuity required to read printed and digital documents. Must be able to respond to urgent finance matters via phone or on-site after hours. Work Environment Frequently works indoors in a climate-controlled professional office setting. Frequently exposed to standard office noise such as phone conversations, printers, and background chatter. Occasionally experiences interruptions and shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Occasionally exposed to dust, odors, or minimal outdoor conditions. Shift Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Requirements:
Qualification Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required. Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and GAAP. Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end close processes. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare, senior living, or long-term care environments. Experience with payroll processing systems (ADP preferred). Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation. Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain financial data. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize competing responsibilities. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and analysis. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
