We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will play a critical role in modernizing our financial processes, improving accuracy and billing velocity, supporting compliance and prevailing wage requirements, and partnering closely with our Controller to elevate the entire accounting operation. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys untangling complex problems , improving systems, and building scalable accounting processes in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Manage and support monthly close, general ledger accuracy, and financial reporting Prepare and review job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and under/over billing analyses Support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis Billing, Compliance & Process Improvement Lead improvements to billing timeliness and accuracy, including prevailing wage compliance and documentation Support the team in addressing 45Z tax credit requirements and retroactive wage adjustments Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and federal/state regulations Evaluate, streamline, and standardize accounting workflows to reduce bottlenecks ERP & Systems Modernization Serve as a key contributor in the transition from QuickBooks to a modern ERP system (e.g., Sage Intacct) Help design and implement better accounting controls, reporting structures, and process automation Cross-Functional Partnership Work side-by-side with our Controller as a strategic partnernot just a task executor Collaborate with project managers, operations leaders, and executives to ensure accurate job costing and financial visibility Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax preparers Qualifications Active CPA strongly preferred 5+ years of progressive accounting experience , ideally in construction, mechanical, manufacturing, or job-cost environments Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit principles Experience with prevailing wage , job costing, or multi-entity accounting a strong plus Prior involvement in ERP transitions (Sage Intacct, Foundation, Viewpoint, Spectrum, etc.) highly valued Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills Strong written and verbal communication; able to interface with field staff, leadership, and auditors High attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines Ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing company where processes are evolving
