Staff AccountantLocation:
Grand Island, NE 68803
Salary:
$52,000-$60,000+ per year, depending on experience
Employment Type:
Full-TimePosition OverviewA Transport company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities, and ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining accurate and organized financial information.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.

Record and reconcile financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed.

Assist with financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.

Ensure accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

Monitor transactions for accuracy and completeness.

Assist with maintaining supporting documentation for audits and financial reviews.

Work with internal departments and management to resolve accounting-related questions and discrepancies.

Support other accounting and financial projects as needed.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Previous experience in accounting or a similar financial role.

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP.Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and/or accounts receivable.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working with financial data, identifying discrepancies, and supporting the overall accounting function of the company.
Compensation:
Starting around $52,000-$60,000+ annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
