Company Overview Radiation Safety & Control Services (RSCS, Inc.) is a dedicated provider of radiation safety and measurement solutions, serving nuclear power, medical, industrial, and government facilities since 1989. Our team of experts specializes in health physics consulting, instrument calibration, decommissioning, and radiological measurements to ensure safety and compliance across diverse environments. Job Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial reporting. This role performs complex accounting activities, assists with month-end and year-end close processes, prepares account reconciliations, supports audits, and helps ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work collaboratively across departments. Duties Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and internal reporting packages. Maintain fixed asset, prepaid expense, accrual, and other assigned balance sheet accounts. Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and operational accounting activities as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules, documentation, and explanations. Identify process improvements and recommend efficiencies within accounting procedures and close processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and support business initiatives. Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Competencies :
Experience in government contracting, professional services, manufacturing, or another relevant industry. Knowledge of internal controls, audit support, and process improvement initiatives. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis tools. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF, and document management systems Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization Commitment to professionalism, compliance, and continuous improvement Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). CPA or CPA candidate preferred. $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
