Job Description:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a nonprofit organization. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong foundation in general accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries, preferably with experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel while supporting accurate and timely financial operations. Responsibilities Support month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and account reconciliations. Maintain the general ledger and prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements. Prepare prepaid, insurance, investment, and other supporting schedules and record related transactions. Review budget-to-actual activity, purchase orders, and account balances; research discrepancies and adjust as needed. Assist with grant billing, HUD fund drawdowns, accounts payable, deposits, and other cash activity. Support annual audits, Board reporting, and other accounting projects while ensuring accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; accounting experience required, preferably within a nonprofit environment. Strong knowledge of general accounting, bookkeeping, journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office; Sage Intacct experience preferred. Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
