Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Help produce reliable financial statements and internal reports while maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger across multiple business entities.
- Perform hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable duties, including invoice entry, customer billing, collection follow-up, and coordination of vendor disbursements.
- Oversee AP and AR activity across multiple locations, tracking aging trends and partnering with operational teams to improve collection results.
- Verify that supplier payments are completed accurately and on schedule while supporting strong accounting controls and documentation standards.
- Evaluate existing invoicing, collection, and payment processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.
- Assist with establishing more consistent AP and AR procedures and support opportunities to introduce automation where appropriate.
- Review accrual-based accounting practices across entities, address inconsistencies, and help ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
- Document accounting policies and standard procedures, reinforce internal controls, and support audit preparedness.
- Participate in integrating newly acquired businesses into the accounting environment by aligning charts of accounts, reporting methods, and operational processes with company standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2-5+ years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Practical experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions.
- Solid understanding of accrual accounting and financial statement accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Experience identifying and resolving issues related to accruals and revenue or expense recognition.
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives or accounting system implementation efforts.
