K Group / Affiliated Companies About the Role We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accountant to join our growing organization. The Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close across a portfolio of real estate investments and affiliated operating companies. This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable owning the accounting process, maintaining accurate books, identifying discrepancies, and working directly with senior management. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with multiple entities. Real estate accounting experience is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple companies and real estate entities Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are accurately recorded Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes Perform bank, credit card, loan, and balance-sheet reconciliations Review accounts payable and accounts receivable Track intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances Maintain property-level accounting for real estate investments Review rent rolls, tenant receivables, security deposits, and property expenses Track mortgage payments, interest expense, principal balances, and lender activity Prepare property-level P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash-flow reports Assist with acquisition and disposition accounting Track capital expenditures and construction/development costs Maintain fixed-asset schedules and depreciation records Assist with annual budgets and budget-to-actual variance analysis Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for CPAs, tax returns, audits, lenders, and banks Assist management with cash-flow reporting and financial analysis Identify accounting discrepancies and proactively resolve issues Improve accounting controls, processes, and reporting as the organization grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of accounting experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles Experience handling accounting for multiple entities Real estate, property accounting, construction, or development accounting experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow statements Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with accounting and property-management software AppFolio and/or NetSuite experience is a plus Strong reconciliation and analytical skills Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail Ability to work independently and take ownership of deadlines Comfortable working directly with ownership and senior management What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a bookkeeper.
