Staff Tax Accountant | Full-Time | On-Site The Role A growing public accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Staff Tax Accountant to join its expanding Tax team. This opportunity is ideal for an early-career accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation in tax compliance, tax planning, and client service. You'll work alongside experienced tax professionals, gain exposure to a diverse client base, and develop the technical skills needed for long-term career growth in public accounting. What You'll Do Prepare business tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120S, as well as individual income tax returns (Form 1040) under supervision. Assist with tax planning projects by gathering financial information and supporting tax research. Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities. Maintain client accounting records and support bookkeeping functions using accounting software. Conduct research related to individual, business, trust, estate, and gift tax matters. Utilize professional tax preparation software to complete assignments accurately and efficiently. Collaborate with team members to deliver timely, high-quality client service. Participate in client meetings and communications while maintaining a professional, service-oriented approach. Contribute to workflow improvements and support firm initiatives focused on operational efficiency. Continue developing technical knowledge through on-the-job training, mentorship, and professional education. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting required (or near completion). 6 months to 1 year of public accounting or tax experience; internship experience is acceptable. Strong interest in building a career in taxation and public accounting. CPA eligibility or intent to pursue CPA licensure preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with QuickBooks and professional tax preparation software is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, including additional hours during peak tax season. Compensation $65,000-$75,000 (or commensurate with experience and qualifications).
