Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional to gain exposure to the accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements of a broker-dealer environment. The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting activities, including reconciliations, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and the monthly close. The individual will also gain exposure to broker-dealer regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules. Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations. Maintain general ledger accounts and support accurate and timely bookkeeping. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense allocations, vendor reconciliations, and wire activity. Support the preparation of broker-dealer regulatory reports and related documentation. Assist with monitoring brokerage operational controls and resolving differences between general ledger and sub-ledger systems. Support net capital and reserve requirement calculations. Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits. Assist with payroll accounting, tax reporting, and other accounting activities as needed. Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Support improvements to accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls. Assist with ad hoc accounting and financial projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 1+ years of accounting, audit, or related experience preferred. Experience within financial services, public accounting, securities, or a broker-dealer environment is preferred. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems. Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Interest in developing knowledge of broker-dealer accounting and regulatory reporting.
Base Salary:
$80k - $100k
