Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a healthcare organization in Buffalo, New York. This role is ideal for someone in finance who can manage complex close activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and support sound financial decision-making. The position offers an opportunity to contribute across core accounting operations, audit support, and process improvement while helping maintain a strong control environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct monthly and annual closing activities, ensuring journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations each month, investigate outstanding items, and drive timely correction of discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare supporting schedules that contribute to reliable monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany transactions, recording adjustments when needed to keep accounts aligned across entities.
  • Coordinate audit and review support by assembling requested documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to external auditor inquiries.
  • Manage core accounts payable activity, including invoice processing, sub-ledger accuracy, and proper recording of cash-related transactions.
  • Administer fixed asset accounting within Great Plains by maintaining records for acquisitions, retirements, and depreciation.
  • Develop meaningful financial reports and analytical insights to support operational planning and leadership decision-making.
  • Help refine accounting procedures and internal controls to improve consistency, compliance, and overall efficiency.
  • Provide guidance to interns or student workers and contribute to special assignments, financial analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
