Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting practice in New York. This position is ideal for a finance specialist who can oversee day-to-day accounting activities, handle corporate tax work, and deliver accurate financial reporting for a varied client portfolio. The role offers the opportunity to contribute strategic insight, strengthen internal accounting processes, and support a high standard of client service in an in-person environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss reports and balance sheets, with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Complete corporate tax returns and related filings for business entities while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.
• Reconcile bank activity and review discrepancies to ensure records are complete and properly aligned.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including the preparation and review of journal entries.
• Update supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
• Assist with audit support by organizing documentation and responding to financial information requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and recommend practical process enhancements.
• Contribute to month-end close activities and provide additional accounting support as business needs evolve. Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• At least 10 years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to corporate tax and general ledger work.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks is required.
• Experience with UltraTax is preferred.
• Strong Excel and general computer skills, with the ability to work efficiently in financial systems.
• Solid analytical, numerical, and account reconciliation skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• CPA certification is preferred.
