Job Description
CONMED has an outstanding opportunity for a Cost Accountant II to contribute to the success of a global medical device company. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and financial reporting. This position plays a critical role in leading accounting activities across the inventory cycle—including product costing, valuation, financial analysis, and internal controls—while partnering cross-functionally to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and informed decision-making.
- This role is based in Utica, NY.
- Key Responsibilities Manage and monitor product costing, including calculating and updating standard costs and supporting budgeting activities Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations Analyze and reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness Prepare variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and present findings to leadership Assist with inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes Analyze and close work orders, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting Support fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation/amortization, and capital tracking Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting, providing required analysis, schedules, and documentation Collaborate with finance, operations, and supply chain teams to improve processes, data quality, and reporting efficiency Participate in cross-functional projects and process enhancements across accounting and operations Key Skills Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Effective communication and collaboration across functions Solid understanding of cost accounting, inventory processes, and financial controls
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2+ years of accounting or cost accounting experience with month-end and year-end close processesPreferred Experience:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Access, Word, PowerPoint a plus) Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MANMAN or Oracle) Familiarity with SQL and/or Power BI Experience in manufacturing or lean environments Expected Travel 0-20% This position is not eligible for employer-visa sponsorship Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is $70,480- $109,768.
