Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization's financial health. Your expertise will help streamline accounting processes, maintain accurate records, and provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software Peachtree. Conduct general ledger accounting activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including financial statement preparation and audit support. Analyze financial data through Excel data analysis techniques to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling data entry and recordkeeping tasks efficiently. Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental accounting regulations. Requirements Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account analysis. Proficiency with accounting software systems including , Sage, Peachtree paychex, Access Familiarity with financial software like Paychex, Xero, or Microsoft Office applications—especially spreadsheets for data analysis. Knowledge of GAAP standards as well as governmental or public accounting practices is highly desirable. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion while demonstrating strong numeracy skills and attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting, credit analysis, and journal entries accurately. Strong communication skills combined with customer service orientation to collaborate effectively across teams. Have experience with Federal financial aid a plus. Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
