Tax Accountant

Job DescriptionJob Description Tax Accountant LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Tax Accountant for a client north of Cincinnati. This role is responsible for administering all local income tax functions for a municipal government, including tax collection, compliance, reporting, and customer service. Ensures accurate accounting of tax revenues and compliance with applicable tax ordinances and state regulations. This position is direct hire and will pay between $50K and $65K annually. Job Duties Administered all aspects of local income tax, including registration, filing, billing, collection, and enforcement Processed individual and business tax returns, estimated payments, refunds, and adjustments Reviewed tax filings for accuracy and compliance with local ordinances and state requirements Conducted audits and examinations of tax returns, payroll records, and related documentation Managed delinquencies, penalties, interest calculations, and collection actions Maintained tax records, databases, and supporting documentation in accordance with record retention requirements Responded to taxpayer inquiries by phone, email, and in person regarding filings, balances, ordinances, and compliance. Prepared monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports for internal use and external agencies Reconciled tax collections to the general ledger and assisted with revenue forecasting and budgeting Assisted with updates to tax ordinances, procedures, and public-facing guidance as needed Coordinated with payroll providers, external tax agencies, and legal counsel when required Supported audits and public records requests related to tax administration Qualifications Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required. Experience administering local income tax or similar governmental tax functions Strong knowledge of tax compliance, auditing, and revenue accounting Proficiency with accounting systems, tax administration software, and Microsoft Excel Ability to interpret tax ordinances, regulations, and statutory requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience in public sector or municipal accounting Familiarity with state-level tax agencies and reporting requirements Experience handling taxpayer audits and appeals If you are interested in learning more, please apply now.

Pay Details:
