We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Accountant that will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining accurate product costing across three metal fabrication manufacturing facilities. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, production, purchasing, and finance to monitor manufacturing costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, improve profitability, and ensure the integrity of inventory and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing accounting experience with expertise in standard costing, inventory management, and variance analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, overhead, and finished goods.
• Develop and update product costing for new and existing products.
• Analyze manufacturing variances including, but not limited to, material usage and price variances, labor efficiency and rate variances, overhead spending, volume variances and scrap and rework costs.
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and assist with physical inventory counts at all three manufacturing facilities.
• Assist in month-end and year-end financial close activities.
• Analyze work-in-process (WIP) inventory and ensure accurate reporting.
• Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings for costing accuracy.
• Partner with estimating teams to validate production assumptions and manufacturing costs.
• Analyze profitability by customer, product line, and manufacturing facility.
• Maintain pricing databases and standard pricing structures across all three manufacturing facilities.
• Support new product launches by developing initial pricing strategies.
• Ensure pricing compliance with customer contracts and company pricing policies.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure costing reflects current manufacturing processes.
• Monitor manufacturing KPIs including material utilization; labor efficiency; machine utilization; scrap rates; production costs.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by providing manufacturing cost analysis.
• Prepare financial reports and dashboards for plant leadership and executive management.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
• Travel periodically between the company's three manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in metal fabrication, machining, welding, or industrial manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of: Standard costing; Inventory accounting; Manufacturing variances; General ledger accounting; Financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor, IQMS, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas.
• Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and production reporting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple manufacturing locations.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership.
