Under the direction of the Controller, the Accountant 1 position is responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers; and analyze budgets; and perform general accounting functions.
Essential Duties Essential Job Functions :
Examine accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy and completeness. Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e.
GAAP, FASB
) rules, regulations, and systems of internal controls. Report to the Controller the finances of the organization. Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts. Record Daily Cash Activity. Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies. Create forms and manuals for accounting personnel. Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments. Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information. Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts. Provides accounting support and for pharmacies, including revenue, accounts receivable, inventory and COGS. Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes with the Controller. Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Physical presence in designated office is required. Travel to other locations may be required. Learn other fiscal roles/jobs to be backup if needed. Other duties as assigned.
