Job Description

The Accountant I applies accounting principles and established procedures to review financial activity and support accurate, timely financial reporting. This position works closely with Finance, Purchasing, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and other business partners to identify and resolve coding issues, assist with variance analysis, and promote consistent accounting practices. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 0-3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs. Ability to collaborate effectively with Finance and cross-functional business partners. Reviews accounts and financial activity for accuracy and alignment with the chart of accounts. Reviews invoice batches, inventory documentation, requisitions, and other financial transactions. Identifies expense coding errors and partners with Purchasing, Requisitions, and Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies. Prepares and enters journal entries and assists in ensuring expenses are recorded accurately and within established deadlines. Reviews financial reports for completeness and accuracy. Assists management with variance reporting and analysis. Supports Finance and business partners with budget-related questions and accounting guidance. Educates users on common accounting and coding errors and recommends process improvements. Manages multiple priorities and assignments while working under general supervision.
