Appointment Length Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice Hiring Range $16.00 - $25.00 Hourly Special Instructions to Applicants For full consideration, please include a resume, cover letter and contact information for three professional references. About this Position Fire Protection Publications is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders. The person in this role will be responsible for duties pertaining to Accounts Payable for Fire Protection Publications. Specifically with sales and tax compliance. Major Responsibilities As a Accounting Specialist , you will: Process Sales and Use tax returns monthly for all applicable states. These returns are required monthly or quarterly as required by the state. Register Fire Protection in states as required for compliance of state tax laws. Manage the tax license by state for initial registration and ongoing renewals as needed. FPP will be required to register and file in 48 states at this time. Reconcile collected taxes with Avalara and FPP Accounting software. Maintain Avalara Tax Software for FPP. Provide tax reports as requested and work with the OSU tax compliance office as needed. Assist with other areas of the accounting office as needed for support and special projects. Position Details Full-time position Compensation for this position will be based on the work experience, skills and abilities the selected candidate brings to the position. Accounting Specialist:
2 years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping.
Senior Accounting Specialist:
3 years' experience in accounting/Bookkeeping. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of required experience. Skills, Proficiencies, and/or
Knowledge:
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. The ability to manage projects and deadlines. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Highly organized Ability to set and maintain schedules Excellent writing skills Excellent communication skills Strategic thinking Attention to details Action/solution oriented Productive/results-oriented Continuous learner. Preferred Qualifications High School/GED Five years of experience with Microsoft Office and various accounting software packages. Two years' experience with OSU accounting functions and tax compliance for businesses in other states.
