Description We are looking for an Accountant I to join a long-term contract opportunity supporting accounting operations for a remote team based in Allentown, PA, This position is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage detailed financial activities, prepare accurate reporting, and contribute to strong control practices while working with limited day-to-day oversight. The role calls for someone who is comfortable handling complex journal entries, maintaining ledger integrity, and partnering with colleagues to improve accounting processes and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Review accounting activities and investigate transaction-related issues to ensure records are accurate and aligned with current guidance.
- Prepare detailed journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules that maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Produce and evaluate financial statements along with internal and external reports to support business and compliance needs.
- Assess existing accounting procedures and recommend updates that reflect operational changes, regulatory expectations, and sound accounting practices.
- Support the testing, tracking, and improvement of internal controls over financial reporting through thorough documentation and analysis.
- Research accounting questions, compare potential solutions, and present practical recommendations for resolving more complex issues.
- Develop organized workpapers and maintain clear records that support audits, reporting needs, and internal review.
- Share subject matter guidance with less experienced team members and contribute to consistent, high-quality accounting output across the group. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related discipline that includes at least three accounting courses.
- 3-5 years of accounting-related experience, or 5 years of accounting experience combined with a relevant bachelor's degree.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to work efficiently in spreadsheets, reporting files, and financial analyses.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Experience preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger activity, and analyzing financial statements.
- Familiarity with internal controls, financial reporting practices, and accounting documentation standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly and work effectively with others.
