Controller / Accounting Manager Position Summary PeopleShare is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our clients growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment and experience supporting accounting activities related to international shipping and global trade operations. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, managing inventory and cost accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with domestic and international accounting requirements. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, demonstrate strong analytical skills, and possess a solid understanding of inventory accounting, supply chain transactions, and international business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support inventory accounting processes, including inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, and valuation reviews. Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, labor utilization, and production-related expenses. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance. Monitor inventory movements and coordinate with operations, purchasing, and logistics departments. Support accounting related to international shipments, including freight costs, duties, tariffs, customs fees, and foreign vendor transactions. Reconcile international shipping and logistics expenses and investigate discrepancies. Assist in managing foreign currency transactions and related accounting entries. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed. Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience with international shipping, import/export transactions, logistics accounting, customs duties, tariffs, and freight expense accounting. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes. Experience with inventory accounting and manufacturing cost accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar manufacturing ERP platforms. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
