Job Description

Senior Cost Accountant Location:
Tipton, PA Work Arrangement:
Onsite, Daylight Hours Compensation:
$85,000-$100,000 Sales Hatch is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Tipton, PA to hire a Senior Cost Accountant for its enterprise accounting team. This position will play a key role in managing cost accounting activities across multiple manufacturing locations and entities, with responsibility for accurate inventory valuation, manufacturing cost analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement. The Senior Cost Accountant will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing accountant who enjoys digging into costs, identifying variances, improving processes, and using financial data to support operational decision-making. Key Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Inventory Maintain and continuously improve the company's cost accounting system. Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, scrap, and landed costs. Establish and monitor standard costs and investigate significant cost variances. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual standard cost updates. Monitor inventory transactions, adjustments, shrinkage, scrap, and obsolescence. Partner with Engineering and Production to maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs). Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls and costing processes. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and post journal entries and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Support monthly financial reporting and a three-day month-end close. Prepare cost reports and communicate key findings, trends, and recommendations to management. Develop financial models and cost analyses, including machine rates, activity-based costing, and variance reporting. Support budgeting and forecasting using historical data and cost analysis. Assist with audit requests, internal reporting, and special financial projects. Develop costing processes for new products and co-manufactured items. Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership Provide leadership and support to two cost accountants. Promote strong internal controls and continuous improvement across accounting processes. Partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Finance leadership. Participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on improving financial and operational performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment , including cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, or similar responsibilities. Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis, and
U.S. GAAP.
Experience working with ERP/MRP systems; experience with SyteLine or similar manufacturing ERP platforms is a plus. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business recommendations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to accuracy and continuous improvement. CPA is preferred but not required.
