Job Summary Established Transportation and Construction Company is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. This role is primarily responsible for managing the company's accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices while maintaining vendor relationships. Some essential job duties will include (but not limited to): Process and review invoices for accuracy, proper approval, and coding Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices (3-way matching) Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wire transfers) Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies Maintain accurate and organized financial records Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner Prepare accounts payable reports for management review Complete 1099 year-end filing process Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports for management review Follow up with customers via phone and email to collect outstanding balances Document collection efforts and maintain detailed communication records Resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams and customers Assist with month-end closing, including accruals and reporting Support audits and provide documentation as needed Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) Accounts payable experience; accounts receivable or collections experience a plus Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Fleet Cost & Care, Microsoft Dynamics GP) Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables a plus) Strong communication skills, especially for customer interactions Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Join us as an Accounts Payable Accountant to play a crucial role in maintaining our company's financial health!
