Position Overview The Property Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role partners closely with property management and leadership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting support, and financial analysis. Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Analyze operating expenses, revenues, and overall property performance Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts Assist with annual budgets and forecasting processes Review tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and lease-related accounting transactions Support year-end audit and tax preparation activities Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls Collaborate with property managers and operational teams on financial matters Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, property accounting, commercial real estate, or property management Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Experience with Yardi, MRI, or other property management software is a plus Will consider candidates directly from public accounting Why Consider This Opportunity?
