Full-time (In-person) The Mission At Canyon State Filtration, we provide critical specialized equipment and engineering solutions for water treatment systems. As our footprint grows, we need an elite, detail-oriented Construction Accountant to serve as the central hub for our financial operations. You will be parter of the core team ensuring that every project—from raw material procurement to final installation commissioning is tracked accurately and profitably. You won't just be "balancing books"; you will be managing the flow of capital across multiple sites, specialized-contractors, and our own fabrication teams, making sure out-of-sight costs become in-ground profits.
Core Responsibilities Financial Management & Job Costing:
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and account reconciliations regularly to verify data integrity across all financial accounts.
  • Process payroll (Paylocity) accurately while adhering to tax regulations and payroll processing standards.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including budgets, expense tracking, and project cost analysis to support decision-making.
  • Assist with tax preparation by maintaining organized records of expenses, invoices, and receipts related to construction projects.
  • Maintain and update construction project financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Job Costing Portals:
    Manage and track all project costs, fabrications materials, labor hours, and fulfillment expenses accurately against the initial budget.
  • Contractual Reporting:
    Provide regular "Plan vs. Actual" (PV) reporting and WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules to provide management with real-time data on upcoming cash flow needs.
  • Full Cycle
A/P & A/R
Manage our entire accounts payable and receivable cycle, ensuring that vendor payments are timely and client collections remitted.•
Subcontractor Management:
Resolve complex issues like nuance pay applications, lien waivers, and secondary contract modifications for the specialty-vendors we partner with.
Support & Logistics Operations:
  • Procurement Support:
    Oversee Purchase Order (PO) issuance; track high-value shipments and parts to ensure just-in time delivery for fabrication/field team.
  • Account Oversight:
    Manage all contracts, business licenses, insurance compliance, sales/transaction tax and annual filings to ensure Canyon State remains ahead of the curve in all regulatory requirements.
  • Office Management:
    Serve as a point of contact for our office; manage site visits, coordinate deliveries pickups, handle inventory management, and ensure the facility operates smoothly for both local staff and visiting partners. Qualifications & Selection Criteria
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3+ years in accounting or bookkeeping specifically within the construction, manufacturing or heavy industrial industries (Not a retail/service-based candidate).
  • Expertise:
    Mastery of job costing, WIP reporting, and the logistics of multi-phase project management.
  • Technical Suitability:
    Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage or Dynamics along with Word, Excel and such general business programs.
  • Intellect & Initiative:
    Strong ability to identify cost anomalies, solve logistics problems independently, and communicate effectively with our team. The Package

    We are currently expanding; as we grow faster, your role will become the linchpin of the company's backbone.
  • Location:
    Currently based out of Sedona until our office/shop is completed in Camp Verde. Expect a hybrid setup with in office required once office/shop completed.
  • Compensation:
    Based on Experience, salary based.
