Job Description
Parish CPAs + Business Advisors is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our team. This is a part-time position designed for an accounting student who wants meaningful, hands-on experience in public accounting while continuing their education.
Hours:
20 to 25 hours per week

This internship is not eligible for employee benefits About Our Firm A few years ago, I read a blog post from a business owner who was frustrated with the traditional public accounting experience. His accountant was not keeping up with technology, was difficult to reach, and was not providing proactive advice. That message resonated with me. A few months later, I met with that business owner, and he became a client. Since then, we have continued building our firm around a different approach to accounting. Rather than simply preparing tax returns or financial statements, we strive to work alongside our clients as trusted business advisors. Our team takes pride in using technology, asking good questions, solving problems, and helping clients make better financial and business decisions. We are looking for an accounting student who is curious, dependable, willing to learn, and interested in seeing what a modern CPA firm looks like from the inside. What You'll Learn and Do As an intern, you will work alongside members of our accounting and tax team and gain exposure to a variety of areas within a CPA firm.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with client bookkeeping and cloud-based accounting software Assisting with the preparation of individual and business income tax returns Assisting with payroll processing and quarterly and annual payroll tax filings Helping prepare annual Forms 1099 and other informational filings Assisting with sales tax, personal property declarations, and similar compliance projects Organizing client financial information and supporting documentation Performing account reconciliations and other basic accounting procedures Assisting with special projects as needed Performing occasional administrative tasks related to client engagements The specific work assigned will depend on your experience, coursework, and progress within the internship. Our goal is to give you practical experience while helping you continue developing your accounting skills.
Qualifications Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Be pursuing a degree in Accounting Have successfully completed Intermediate Accounting

Have a basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements Be comfortable working in Microsoft Excel and willing to learn multiple accounting and tax software programs Be organized and able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines Communicate clearly when they have questions, encounter an issue, or need additional guidance Be dependable, professional, and willing to learn Demonstrate curiosity and critical thinking We do not expect an intern to know everything. We do expect you to ask questions, take ownership of your work, learn from feedback, and speak up when you think there may be a better way to accomplish something. Compensation and Schedule Pay:
$13.00 to $16.00 per hour, based on experience
