Accounts Payable, Accountant LaSalle Network is partnering with our client to hire an Accounts Payable, Accountant in Chicago, Illinois. Our client is looking for a detail-driven accounts payable professional who can take ownership of core payables processes in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a hybrid work environment and the chance to support a growing finance organization navigating systems modernization and process improvement. If you enjoy partnering cross-functionally, managing high-volume workflows and continuously improving how work gets done, this Accounts Payable, Accountant role could be a strong fit. Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle accounts payable across multiple entities, including invoice intake, coding, matching, entry and routing for approvals
• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, including invoice status, payment timing, remittance details and reconciliation questions
• Own new vendor onboarding by reviewing setup requests, validating documentation and maintaining accurate vendor master data
• Review and process employee expense reports and corporate card transactions for policy compliance, accurate coding and required approvals
• Prepare and process scheduled payment runs (ACH, wire and check), ensuring proper approvals, funding and accurate recording
• Reconcile the AP sub-ledger to the general ledger and research and resolve discrepancies, unmatched invoices and vendor statement variances
• Support month-end close activities for the payables and expense cycle, including aging review, accruals and account reconciliations
• Assist with year-end vendor tax reporting (1099 / 1042-S) and related documentation
• Support internal and external audit requests related to AP, travel & expense and vendor documentation
• Identify and support process improvements, including automation and system migration initiatives, and assist with SOP/control documentation
• Complete other financial reporting, analysis and duties as requested Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or Business with relevant coursework or experience)
• 2-4 years of accounts payable or full-cycle AP experience (multi-entity and/or fast-paced environments preferred)
• Solid working knowledge of AP processes, general accounting principles and GAAP
• Experience with high-volume invoice processing and vendor management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong written communication skills with a customer-service mindset and comfort managing a high volume of vendor correspondence professionally
• Experience with payment runs and AP-to-GL reconciliations, including researching and resolving discrepancies
• Experience with NetSuite (preferred but not required)
• Familiarity with procurement and travel & expense platforms; experience with Zip and Navan (preferred)
• Familiarity with bank reconciliations (preferred) Key Details
