Manhattan, NY (Hybrid) About Schulman Lobel Schulman Lobel is a leading CPA and business management firm providing accounting, tax, business management and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs and closely held businesses. We are looking for a Fiduciary Tax Accountant to join our Manhattan team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong fiduciary tax experience who wants to deepen their technical expertise while working closely with experienced tax professionals and a sophisticated client base. The Opportunity The Fiduciary Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and supporting the preparation of complex fiduciary tax returns while working with trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, solid tax knowledge and an interest in developing their career within a collaborative public accounting environment. This role will provide exposure to a variety of complex tax matters and the opportunity to work closely with clients and internal teams. Responsibilities Prepare and review federal and state fiduciary income tax returns including Forms 1041 and related schedules Prepare tax returns for trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals Assist with complex tax research and technical tax matters Analyze trust and estate documents and apply relevant tax rules Prepare tax workpapers and supporting schedules Assist with estimated tax calculations and tax planning Communicate with clients and internal team members to obtain necessary information Identify tax issues and potential planning opportunities Assist with responses to tax notices and taxing authority inquiries Maintain accurate and organized client files and documentation Stay current on changes in federal, state and local tax regulations Collaborate with other members of the tax and business management teams Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field 2+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax Experience preparing fiduciary tax returns is strongly preferred Strong understanding of federal and state income taxation Experience with trusts, estates and/or high-net-worth individuals preferred Strong analytical and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software CPA or progress toward the CPA is preferred What We Offer Hybrid work environment in our Manhattan office Exposure to sophisticated high-net-worth and fiduciary tax matters Opportunity to work directly with experienced tax professionals and firm leadership Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture Strong opportunities for professional growth and advancement Competitive compensation and benefits Support for continued professional development and CPA advancement
