A great UHY client is seeking a Senior Payroll Accountant/Analyst to support payroll accounting for a large, publicly traded organization. This role will be responsible for payroll-related journal entries, reconciliations, payroll accounting activities, and supporting accurate financial reporting across a complex employee population. The Senior Payroll Accountant/Analyst role is an interim opportunity expected to last approximately 3-6 months. The position is remote, with a requirement to travel to Plantation, FL for training and important meetings. Candidates located in Florida are strongly preferred. This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who enjoys preparing the work directly rather than functioning primarily as a reviewer. Senior Payroll Accountant/Analyst Responsibilities Prepare payroll-related journal entries and accounting transactions Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Review payroll data for accuracy across multiple employee populations and pay types Support payroll accounting for W-2 employees, contractors, union employees, and other employee classifications Process and reconcile payroll-related items including regular wages, overtime, double time, shift differentials, bonuses, incentives, benefit deductions, PTO, and leave Support accounting for salary changes, promotions, attendance incentives, and other payroll adjustments Ensure payroll information is accurately reflected in the general ledger and financial reporting Work within Workday and Oracle systems to support payroll and accounting processes Support payroll system integrations and identify issues between payroll and accounting systems Assist with payroll-related reconciliations, reporting, and analysis Support SOX controls, internal controls, and audit requests related to payroll accounting Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve payroll and accounting issues Maintain accurate and organized supporting documentation for payroll accounting activities Support payroll accounting activities related to newly acquired businesses and employees Perform additional accounting and payroll-related duties as assigned Senior Payroll Accountant/Analyst Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Strong accounting background with hands-on experience preparing journal entries and performing reconciliations Workday experience required Experience with Oracle preferred Experience supporting payroll accounting within a large, publicly traded organization strongly preferred Experience with large-scale, multi-state payroll environments preferred Experience working with various employee populations, including W-2 employees, contractors, union employees, and other employee classifications Experience with payroll-related journal entries and general ledger reconciliations Understanding of payroll components including wages, overtime, bonuses, incentives, benefits, PTO, leave, shift differentials, and other payroll adjustments Payroll integration experience strongly preferred Healthcare, veterinary, or online retail experience a significant plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Highly self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment Technology-savvy with the ability to learn and navigate complex systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Hands-on "doer" who is comfortable preparing entries and reconciliations rather than functioning solely as a reviewer Ability to travel to Plantation, FL for training and important meetings•UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group provides clients with accomplished professionals to support finance, accounting, internal audit and tax teams.
